Onimusha: Way of the Sword Trophy Guide and Platinum Roadmap
How long the Onimusha: Way of the Sword platinum takes, why nothing is missable, and what the Carnage clear and Boss Rematch trophies actually demand.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword has 52 trophies and the platinum is called “Peerless.” Plan for two playthroughs and roughly 60–70 hours, but also plan for a friendly list: nothing is missable, and a clear on Carnage cross-credits the easier difficulties.
The list at a glance
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Total | 52 trophies |
| Breakdown | 1 Platinum, 2 Gold, 9 Silver, 40 Bronze |
| Platinum name | Peerless |
| Minimum playthroughs | 2 (one clear to unlock Carnage, then a Carnage run) |
| Time | About 60–70 hours |
| Difficulty | PowerPyx rates it around 6.5/10 |
| Missable trophies | None |
The 52 count is confirmed by both the IGN wiki and the trophy guides. The breakdown and the “Peerless” name come from the guide write-ups, which cross-check PowerPyx and other trackers.
Why two playthroughs are the floor
The list requires a Carnage clear, and Carnage only unlocks after you finish the campaign once. So the shape of the platinum is: a first run on the difficulty you enjoy, then the Carnage run. Our post-game guide covers what carries over into that second run, which is the part that decides how much of the grind you repeat.
One mercy worth knowing: a Carnage clear counts for the lower difficulties. PowerPyx reads the Boss Rematch trophy that way. Beating an opponent on the hardest available difficulty completes it for all of them, so you are not fighting the same roster three times.
Nothing is missable
There are no missable and no glitched trophies in the current list. Side content that looks time-limited is not: you can load a save from just before the final mission through “Continue” and finish anything you left open before starting Carnage.
That said, one guide warns that some collectible progress may not carry into New Game Plus. That claim has no second source behind it. The safe plan is the one the guide recommends: finish your collectible sweep on the first clear rather than trusting it to transfer.
The trophy work falls into four buckets
- Story progress. Most of the list. The story trophies name the boss or the mission they belong to, so a normal playthrough clears them without effort.
- Side content. The 18 Chance Encounters (“No Job Too Small”) and the 8 Mysteries of Kyoto (“Demystified”) are both trophies, which makes the side content mandatory for the platinum rather than optional.
- Collectibles and upgrades. For 100%, the guides count roughly 275 collectibles across the game. Power Stones, Oni Stones, Fine Silk Cloths and Tamahagane feed the enhancement system, and the trophies tied to that sit in this bucket. The post-game guide explains why upgrade materials reset between runs while charms and pouches do not.
- Boss Rematch. The hardest trophy is “Glutton for Punishment” (Gold), which asks you to beat every Boss Rematch opponent. Boss Rematch lives in the Practice Grounds you unlock during the mission “The Oni’s Apprentice”: ring the bell in Emma’s Hall to reach it.
Nothing on the list is execution-tedious in the usual sense. There is no no-hit boss trophy and no “S-rank every mission” trophy in the base list as of patch 1.0.
Boss names in the guides
One naming note that trips people up when they search for a specific fight: the boss the video guides call “Gonryu” is written Sasaki Ganryu in IGN’s own achievement list. The audio in the video guide is the source of the other spelling, so treat the two as one fight when you are matching a name against the in-game bestiary.
