Onimusha: Way of the Sword Main Character: Miyamoto Musashi
The main character is Miyamoto Musashi. This page covers his past, the Oni Gauntlet, his face model Toshiro Mifune and the age CAPCOM never confirmed.
The short answer
The main character is Miyamoto Musashi. His face model is the late actor Toshiro Mifune, but a different actor voices him.
Who he is
Musashi is a young swordsman who comes to Kyoto with one goal: to prove nobody is his equal with a blade.
On the way he runs into the Genma and is forced to wear the Oni Gauntlet. It gives him power far beyond a normal man, and lets him absorb enemy souls.
What he is actually torn about
He wants to win with his own sword. The Gauntlet hands him a power he does not want to depend on.
That pull between personal skill and Oni power is character writing, not a class system you can swap at will.
Face model and voice actor are two different jobs
CAPCOM and PlayStation both confirm that Musashi’s face is based on the likeness of Toshiro Mifune.
Face modelling, motion performance and voice acting are three separate credits. So Toshiro Mifune should not be listed as Musashi’s voice actor.
The official Japanese, English and Simplified Chinese casts are on the voice actors page.
How to read this without spoilers
Start here, then read the combat guide to understand how soul absorption works.
The White-Clad Man, Ganryu and the late-game Oni identities all spoil story beats, so the homepage does not expand on them.
Common questions
Who is his face model? Toshiro Mifune. He provides the likeness only, not the voice.
How old is Musashi? CAPCOM has not said. This page gives no number and does not repeat fan guesses.
Who voices him? The official data lists Japanese, English and Simplified Chinese casts. The full table is on the voice actors page.
Can he dual-wield katana and wakizashi? Public material confirms the Oni Gauntlet and swordplay only. Nothing official says free dual-wielding exists, so wait for in-game or official confirmation.

Is Onimusha: Way of the Sword a Remake?
No. It is a brand-new entry, not a remake, remaster or reboot. Here is how it relates to earlier Onimusha games and what CAPCOM actually said.
